I have to learn to pay attention when I’m asked to sign up for things. When Amy told me about the Urban Assualt race I think I focused on something about big wheels. I like big wheels. It sounded good.
It turned out that big wheels were a very very small part of what was essentially a bike race around Austin. I’m not really a biker. I’m more of a big wheeler. So when I discovered the course covered territory from the river to Highland Mall to Hula Hut (like 30ish miles in all) and back I was a little worried.
Clearly I underestimated our awesomeness. Somehow we not only survived, we were 54th in the coed division out of like 270 teams. You don’t win anything for 54th, but you know, it’s still pretty sweet. The race is good times. I highly recommend it, especially to readers who might be sitting in Madison, site of an upcoming edition.
