Peanut Butter Disproves Evolution

Maybe you listened to the Richard Dawkins and Francis Collins interviews on NPR? Maybe not.

I thought they both sounded reasonable and sharp, and to some extent it’s possible to see how in debate they just end up talking past one another. Dawkins is calling for a scientific examination of god, Collins is saying that such a thing is essentially impossible. Dawkins admits that it’s not possible to disprove the existence of god, though he makes arguments for why it is unlikely or unnecessary. Collins says it provides comfort and meaning. Dawkins agrees that may be entirely true, but it says nothing about whether or not God is real (vs. a religious placebo effect).

Though I don’t share his view, I’m at least hopeful that Collins’ brand of Christianity catches on. He flatly states that Genesis one and two are incompatible with scientific evidence, then bands over backwards to explain why the story might have been given to us in this particular fashion. Regardless, it would be incredibly refreshing if Collins could win the debate among his own faithful and we could stop having ridiculous arguments over teaching evolution in classrooms.

Instead I submit to you the following video in which peanut butter (you may remember that last week bananas disproved evolution) disproves evolution. Forget biology class, you can apparently learn all you need to know at the grocery store.

UPDATE: Apparently a lot of people are easily convinced.  This from a Newsweek poll conducted this week:

Nearly half (48 percent) of the public rejects the scientific theory of evolution; one-third (34 percent) of college graduates say they accept the Biblical account of creation as fact. Seventy-three percent of Evangelical Protestants say they believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years; 39 percent of non-Evangelical Protestants and 41 percent of Catholics agree with that view.

Based on this I reiterate my question about college being worthless.
